Tuesday 5th January 2021 Overleigh Orthodontics  remains open to see patients

Update from Sara Hurley, Chief Dental Officer England – 4th January 2021

The Government guidance on the national lock down says, "The majority of public services will continue and you will be able to leave home to visit them. These include the NHS and medical services like GPs and dentists".  Dentistry is an essential medical service. It is a priority for the NHS. Patients are entitled to travel for medical appointments, including dental.  Dental professionals are defined by the Government as critical workers.

Overleigh Orthodontics main surgery reopened after extensive remodeling of the open plan clinic into four separate surgeries to improve social distancing and allow us to carry out all procedures in a safe environment under new regulations. Whilst many things have changed, we want to reassure you that we remain committed to your safety. We have always maintained the highest standards of infection control. We would like to inform you of additional changes we have implemented to reduce the risk to you, your families and to our staff.

  • On entering the surgery you will be asked some pre-screening COVID-19 questions.
  • On arrival please stay in your car and call the receptionist on 07957 262196 to book in. The nurse will call your mobile when we are ready for you to come in.
  • To reduce the number of people in the practice we are asking that patients attend their appointments alone or with just one parent/guardian.
  • All visitors to the practice must wear a face covering when not in treatment. If you are exempt a visor will be provided and must be worn.
  • Upon arrival the patient’s temperature will be taken by one of our nurses. Patients with temperatures above 37.8˚C will be rescheduled. Please do not take any paracetamol prior to the appointment as this makes the readings inaccurate.
  • Where possible do not bring coats and bags into the surgery. If you have to bring them your belongings will be placed in a wiped plastic box on arrival and returned as you leave the surgery.
  • Unfortunately toilets are currently only available for emergencies.
  • You will be asked to use hand sanitiser on entering the surgery
  • The waiting room is available for patient arriving on foot. Please notify the reception team when you call the above number to check-in.
  • If you child attends alone please feel free to request a call to discuss the appointment with the treating clinician
  • We will do our best to allow more time between patients to reduce any waiting times and the traffic of people in the practice.
  • The surgery will have separate entrance and exits. Patients will enter through the side door on the left of the main building and will now leave through the main entrance back into the car park.
  • Patients will be asked to book their next appointment at reception before they leave the practice.
  • Please contact us if you have to change appointments

Due to these guidelines, we will be seeing fewer patients per day so please be patient with us.

  • Clinical staff will always wear a mask, a face shield and a disposable gown or apron
  • All team members will be health screened before their shift

Unfortunately, the virus is still a threat. However, we have always used universal precautions and we will continue to do so.
