Type of Braces

Upper Removable Appliance

URA’S are upper removable appliances, meaning they can be easily removed and reinserted into the mouth. They consist of wires and screws held together by an acrylic base and are used to move upper teeth into better relationships using gentle force. They are used for space maintenance, to reduce an overbite, to guide eruption or to tip teeth into the required position.

Twin Block Functional Appliance

A twin block brace is made up of two removable appliances, they need to be worn together. When your mouth is closed, both blocks should fit together. They work together to reposition the jaw. Twin block braces need to be worn each day and night. The only time you should remove your twin block braces is when you have to brush your teeth.

Ceramic Braces

Extremely versatile and less noticeable than metal braces, these braces are made up of ceramic brackets and a metal or  white coated wire, these are fitted to the surface of the teeth. They are ideal for those who prefer discrete fixed braces.

Metal Braces

Metal braces comprise metal brackets and wires, though the brackets are far smaller and less noticeable than you might think. They are ideal for both adults and children, silver or coloured elastics are placed onto the brackets to hold the wire in position.
